Boxing Day...originally...created to give thanks and assist the less fortunate in the community..

And, it turns out...is the 2nd day of the 12 days of Christmas...

For me...a leasurely day...shared with the younger Isaacs'...

Well...the morning dawns foggy...yet, the mountain rises above....Caroline...listens as Santa shares the poem...

Christmas Lights!!

When I was a kid...and when my kids were kids...

One of the highlights of the Christmas season was a drive around the city...

Looking at Christmas lights.

Tonight...Mom, Patsy, Matt and I...continued the tradition...

With Christmas music playing from the Ipod, we drove through Happy Valley Heights...
And down Peacock Lane in SE Portland...
(Mom & Dad lived there in 1946...when they were pregnant with Judy!)
It was fun to slowly drive the street...with our headlights out...
Checking out the displays...and people.

Then back home...past the tree at Happy Valley City Hall.

Really...a lovely evening!

The Robe

He wants a robe...my eldest grandson...

"Could you make it for me, Grama?" he asked.

I knew it would be a...project...he gave me a year :)

We picked out material...in June!My summer and fall days filled with other things...

My sewing machine needed a tune-up...

I decided Christmas would be my goal...

Today...I completed the final steps.

9 Days til Christmas!

When all my kids were home, I spent many hours sewing at Christmas...

Lots of gifts for them...matching Christmas outfits...

As well as gifts for family and friends.

These days...I'm sewing primarily for my grandkids...11 of them!

I've done with 6...still 4 and 1/2 to go....I just might make it!!!

2nd Day of Christmas?

So is it the 2nd day of Christmas since there is only 10 days left of the 12 days before Christmas?

Anyway...Mt Hood decided to wear a Christmas hat...

And we did some Costco shopping, then picked up our Christmas trees...

PS...I looked on the Internet and found....

The Twelve Days of Christmas start with Christmas Day and finish with the eve of Epiphany on 5th January.

Now we know :)
